A delightful illustration of Saint Bartholomew on a maple wooden block, based on traditional Eastern Christian iconography. He was one of the Twelve Apostles and followed Christ throughout His ministry. After Pentecost, Bartholomew preached throughout the East, especially Persia, Arabia, and India. He is shown holding a scroll, a symbol of the Apostles, and he gives the priestly blessing.
He is considered by some to be the same person as the Apostle Nathaniel; others believe Nathaniel is another name for Simon the Zealot.
On the back, there is a simple, child-friendly prayer based on an Orthodox hymn to the saint.
