Where are Little Saints blocks made?

They are hand-made 100% here in the U.S.A.

Are Little Saints blocks safe for children?

They are designed to be! All of our blocks exceed the US standard for choking hazards. The images are printed directly onto the wood, which removes any risk of a sticker peeling off and becoming a choking hazard. Edges are beveled to avoid pokes and splinters.

Why don't Little Saints look more like icons?

There is a difference between a Bible story book that you read to a child, and a liturgical Gospel book that the priest reads in church. Likewise, there is a difference between a Little Saints block and an icon.

The choice to leave off certain features of icons, such as haloes, was a design choice—not a theological statement about the figure depicted. (The sainthood of saints is clearly stated on the back of every Little Saints block.) To be clear, Little Saints blocks are not icons, and we do not want them to be confused with icons.

We do draw inspiration from Orthodox iconography, in order for the figures to be recognizable to children from seeing them in church, for example.

Should children really be playing with icons?

There is a difference between a Bible story book and a liturgical Gospel. Likewise, Little Saints blocks are different from icons. We would not suggest that they be venerated or otherwise treated as icons. If your child grows to love a particular saint that he or she plays with as a Little Saints block, consider purchasing an icon from our sister company, Legacy Icons, and teach the child how to use it properly.

Do you have more saints?

We are continuously working on new designs. But if you are looking for a particular saint, consider a sponsorship!
