A delightful illustration of Saint Lucia (or Lucy) on a maple wooden block, based on traditional Eastern Christian iconography. She lived in Sicily in the early fourth century. Her martyrdom was foretold by Saint Agatha, and so Lucia gave her possessions to the poor. She refused to renounce Christ and was martyred in the year 304. She holds a palm branch, a symbol of faithfulness and martyrdom.
On the back, there is a simple, child-friendly prayer based on an Orthodox hymn to the saint.
